Bringing The Corvette Back To Life

After sitting for nearly a decade, my Corvette fired up with its ancient fuel—but ran terribly. A full refresh was in order. First, I replaced the fuel, followed by an oil change using Penrite’s recommended 20W-60 grade for Australian conditions. Then came an unexpected setback: just 300 meters into a test drive, a loud pop and rough engine had me thinking the worst. Luckily, the culprit turned out to be a snapped oxygen sensor—an easy fix with a VN Commodore part. Next, I tackled the brakes, flushing out decades-old fluid that was more sludge than liquid. With each fix, the Corvette edged closer to roadworthiness. Now, only the elusive 255/50r16 tyres stand between me and the next milestone.
