One of the first things I noticed when I got my C4 Corvette was that the gauge cluster wasn’t working. Instead of reading actual values, it lit up like a Christmas tree. After some research, I realized it wasn’t an expensive fix—just a matter of replacing the faded polarizing filter on the LCD. The process involved carefully dismantling the cluster, scraping off the old filter, applying a new one, and tackling the challenge of reapplying the graphics. I experimented with Cricut-cut vinyl but ran into issues with hollow numerals, so I plan to try laser-printed adhesive vinyl next time. Reassembling the cluster took patience, but most of the LCD elements now display correctly, with a few lingering issues likely due to worn elastomeric connectors.
